Dr. Lau graduated from the Department of Fine Arts, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She received her MEd and MFA with Advanced Level Certificates in archaeology and art management, and obtained her Ph.D. from Chinese Academy of Fine Arts, specializing in comparison of western and eastern art history, with a particular emphasis on the influences of Hong Kong Chinese Ink with Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink. She is interested in various aspects of Chinese ceramics, paintings, art and cultural education.


Dr. Lau was an art panel and drama chief advisor in secondary school for over 15 years. She taught Western Art History for HKAL for over 6 years and also taught this topic with Contemporary Art History in HKDSE and tertiary institution. With the enthusiasm for and devotion to the art education in Hong Kong, she has got the award of outstanding visual arts teacher of HKSAR in 2011-2012, HKADC outstanding art teacher in 2012, HKADC outstanding art education in 2016 and her secondary school outstanding teacher award in 2012-2013. She has participated in creative award of students project, architectural curriculum design project, art appreciation project, Chinese painting curriculum project, New Senior Secondary Curriculum (NSSC) Pilot test project, etc.


Her researches have been primarily in the area of Chinese Contemporary Art, Chinese Ink, school curriculum design and museum education. During the service as a teaching professional, she has published several art education articles and books, and curated several exhibitions and performances as well as public art. She has been the art ambassador in the Heritage Museum for several years. What she did is to promote Art with others and share what has gained from Art through organizing school activities, performances, participating in research projects and writing articles. She believes that art has no limitation and is a life-long learning.

Profile
